Principal State Inspectorate for Technical Supervising of Dangerous Industrial Objects has the mission to ensure the implementation and enforcement of regulatory acts and documents on industrial security, international treaties in the field of industrial security the Republic of Moldova is party to. In addition, the Inspectorate carries out checks and state technical supervision of activities and/or works in the field of industrial security.

The key functions and duties of the Inspectorate include:

•carrying out checks and state technical supervision with a view to check the security conditions of dangerous industrial objects that imply activities and/or works, including during the transportation, storage and use of explosive materials, processing and enrichment of mineral raw material, as well as the degree of observance of regulatory and technical acts;

•participating and/or checking the accuracy of technical research of the causes of breakdowns and incidents that occur at the dangerous industrial objects, including thefts of explosive materials, as well as the sufficiency of the taken actions in line with the results of these researches; 

•giving instructions to economic entities on how to remove violations related to the industrial security requirements;

•giving instructions, within the scope of its powers, concerning industrial security, including the need to assess industrial security, perform the technical diagnosis (including non-destructive checks) of technical installations and technological processes used at the corresponding object;

•giving instructions to economic entities to suspend the works conducted with the violation of requirements of industrial security and sealing of equipment or machinery used at the dangerous industrial object, including the premises, in case their further use can cause breakdowns or in case of danger for the life and health of employees and/or the public;

•registering project documentation for construction-assembly, calibration, exploitation, technical diagnosis, extension, reconstruction, technical refitting, conservation and liquidation of dangerous industrial objects;

•participating in the committees for staff qualification in the field of industrial security, receipt and commissioning of dangerous industrial objects. Receipt refers to a set of technical-organizational actions intended to commission the dangerous industrial object, including its primary check; 

•issuing the unique technical authorization at dangerous industrial objects for calibrating the equipment used at the corresponding object and examining the report on the completion of calibration works;

•issuing the unique technical authorization at dangerous industrial objects for the commissioning of equipment and machinery used at the corresponding object after its assembly, calibration, extension, reconstruction, technical refitting and conservation;

•fulfilling other duties set in regulatory acts;

•coordinating, from the perspective of industrial security, the annual mining plans;

•participating in the development of regulatory-technical documents in the field of industrial security.
