The increasing digital literacy, the development of digital skills and digital inclusion is the main objective of Pillar III "Capacities and Usage" of Digital Moldova 2020. Digital literacy of the population starts from the general educational system and the following play an important role:
- curricula adjusted to the needs of the knowledge-based economy;
- teaching staff trained in the effective implementation of ICT in the educational process;
- information technology integrated into the didactic process;
- the creation of digital educational content, including support for lifelong learning.
Important steps have been taken in this respect:
Elaborated and approved curriculum for computer science. The basic evaluation criteria included: the curriculum framework plan, the general objectives on subjects, the content of the discipline, the didactic strategies, the evaluation strategies, the coherence between the curriculum components, etc. and provided information on the relevance, quality and effectiveness of the curriculum.
Approved the Action Plan on Computerization of General Education (Education Minister's Order No. 541 of 07.06.2016).
Approved Methodologies for organizing and conducting of the assessment of digital competences of pupils and teachers (Education Minister's Order No. 428 of 10.05.2016).
Elaborated legal regulatory framework for distance learning.
Up to now, a network of computerized public libraries (approximately 1070), with over 3675 computers, has been created within the Novateca project. In most of the localities in the country, these have become community centers with the access to the Internet, to which public electronic services will also migrate. Also, have been created 38 regional IT primary formatting centers, where more than 137 825 people with ICT skills have already been trained.
