Internet security

The rapid development of the Internet and other technologies has created a new economic sector as well as a new and fast flow of information, products and digital services.

Although, this development contributes considerably to the growth of the national economy, it also has a negative side, which is manifested by the distribution of illegal and harmful content and behaviors that are particularly dangerous for the most vulnerable among us, namely children and adolescents.

Children are increasingly exposed to the dangers of digital space through a growing variety of devices and at a lower age. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the content and special services dedicated to them.

Thus, in order to guarantee online safety for children and to ensure the more efficient use of the Internet by them, was elaborated and approved by Government Decision no.212 of 05.04.2017 an Action Plan on the Promotion of Internet Safety of Children and Adolescents for the years 2017-2020.

Based on the identified issues, the actions in the Plan are grouped on the following general objectives / areas of intervention:

  1. Reducing illegal content from the Internet and behavior’s approach with a negative impact in the online environment.
  2. Promoting a safer digital environment for children and adolescents through the collaboration of all parties involved.
  3. Awareness and disclosure of parties which are in direct contact with children about online environmental hazards and recommendations on safe Internet surfing.
  4. The elaboration of statistics and the promotion of the research on online safety of children and adolescents.

According to the provisions of the Government Decision no.212 of 05.04.2017, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the implementation of the Action Plan on promoting the safety of children and adolescents for the years 2017-2020.
